Help! I Need Ideas To Let Moxie Burn Energy.
I’m a couple weeks into my Moxie duties now, and one of the biggest challenges I’m facing is how to keep a young dog active and keep their boredom at bay. We go for long walks in the morning, and that helps a little bit. I had been going to a dog park at lunch to let her ‘burn it off’ with other dogs, but had to stop after a little incident.
A couple weeks ago, Moxie was playing well with some of the dogs, but all of a sudden one got a bit aggressive and did some “neck-nipping.” I decided that was a good time to leave and thought nothing of it. A couple of days later, I noticed a scab on her neck—definitely a bite from the park! Worse, she was aggravating the bite by scratching it. Dog Parks are out.
Since then, I’ve discovered that Moxie is a good garden digger—very handy to have if you are trying to uproot some stubborn plants—and that our house makes a good race track. Tug of war with her chew toy is another favorite, but burning the energy remains a challenge!
