The Story of Amy, Jet & Their Forgiveness Sofa
“Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.” – Anatole France
At Snoozer, we believe that our dog beds, travel items, and accessories are more than just products for sale. They become interwoven into our dog’s life. They become part of the story we share with him.
If that sounds a little high-falutin’, just think about how important these things are to your dog on a daily basis. She probably spends several hours sleeping on her dog bed. She may be obsessed with one favorite toy. Maybe she loses it when you go get your bike because she knows she’s coming along for the ride, too!
That’s why we’re here, and that’s why we do what we do. We’re dog people, and we want to help other dog people spoil their dogs by giving them the best.
The Story of Amy & Jet: Trying Out the Forgiveness Sofa
Sometimes we get feedback from a customer that really warms our heart and reminds us why we’re here. Like this story from Amy, a dog-lover who runs the site Philosophy of Dog.
At first, Amy was 50/50 on Snoozer products. She had two dog beds from us. One she loved, the other she wasn’t so impressed with. When we found out she was unhappy with one of our products, we asked her to give us another chance and to try out a third item, the Forgiveness Sofa.
The Forgiveness dog bed is the first dog mattress with supportive bolsters and an orthopedic base that’s fully washable. Not only is it very forgiving to puppies and senior dogs who have accidents in the house, it can also be washed regularly to get rid of allergens and dust mites that accumulate.
But it’s not important what we say about it. It’s more important what our customers say. In her review from January, Amy describes the Forgiveness Sofa as “large, supportive, washable, breathable, structured, and comfortable” and said it’s “something unique in the world of dog beds and something that special needs dogs and senior dogs have needed for a LONG TIME.” She seemed to have found the ideal bed for her precious black lab, Jet.
A few months later, in early May, Amy wrote on Philosophy of Dog that the Forgiveness Sofa was holding up “amazingly well!” and called it “the perfect senior dog bed.” We were thrilled that she and Jet were still happy with the bed.
Saying Goodbye to Jet
The end of the story is sadly familiar to many of us dog lovers.
Amy emailed Snoozer to tell us about Jet’s final days and how the Forgiveness Sofa played a part. This is what she wrote us:
“The forgiveness bed was a blessing in every way for Jet. Sadly, we lost our sweet old man on May 13th, but during our last month together he began losing control of his bladder as well as his bowels. I can’t begin to tell you what a lifesaver the bed was for me too.
It’s not only the washable nature of the bed that I love so much, but it withstood the constant sleeping of a senior dog in his last few days and it provided us both with the support and comfort every dog deserves. On our last night together, I too slept on the Forgiveness bed by Jet’s side and it supported us both without leaving us sleeping on the hard floor.
Our Forgiveness bed still sits in the corner of the room and I hope that soon enough it will be a comfortable napping spot for a sweet shelter pup. I also plan on picking up the Forgiveness crate pad to provide for him while he adjusts to his new life and once that happens, I hope it will provide equal comfort for a foster pup too.
Anyhow, I just wanted to reach out to say thank you. Thank you for allowing me to give my boy the comfort and hygiene he deserved in his final days. The Forgiveness bed will be my first and only recommendation for all of my readers in the future.”
This brings tears to our eyes. Anyone who has loved a dog can see how much Jet meant to her and understand Amy’s devotion. It’s the hardest thing to lose a beloved dog, and there’s nothing we can do as dog owners except be there at the end and provide as much comfort as possible. We’re honored that something we made here at Snoozer was part of Amy and Jet’s story and could help make the inevitable end a little more comfortable.
